THE WORK

A single Ankole-Watusi bull fills the frame with a barely visible herd in the background, horns sweeping wide and upward in a dramatic arc against a sky torn between dying light and gathering storm. His form sits in near-total silhouette, dense black against the last pale glow of dusk, only the faintest curve of muscle and shoulder visible beneath the darkness. Behind him, the sky churns with cloud and the ghosted, blurred shapes of other cattle further back, dissolved by motion while he stays still, unmoving at the centre. There's no herd around him in this frame, only sky, storm, and the sheer scale of those horns holding the eye.

THE INSPIRATION

Ankole-Watusi cattle carry some of the most dramatic horn structures of any breed alive today, historically prized across parts of Africa not for meat or milk alone, but for the sheer presence they commanded. This piece works from that presence directly, stripping away everything but the animal and the sky, no herd, no context, just scale and stillness. Where the storm around him moves and shifts, he doesn't. That contrast, motion dissolving everything except one unmoved form, is the entire idea behind the piece.

WHAT IT CARRIES
