About This Design

Bloc de Nuit organises itself around a grid of large, saturated colour blocks in deep navy, burnt ochre, rust red, teal, and warm cream, each one holding a bold white bird at its centre. The birds face different directions, perched or standing still, their soft white forms sitting in sharp contrast against the depth of each colour field. The composition is architectural in its logic: regular, structured, almost like a tiled floor plan where each cell has its own identity. At upholstery scale the block structure means the pattern reads as a strong graphic statement from across a room, less about the individual bird and more about the rhythm of colour and form repeating across a surface. On a sofa or statement chair, the colour grid creates a visual weight that feels considered rather than decorative. The palette draws from the deep, saturated tones of northern European modernist textile design.

The Inspiration

The grid has always carried authority. Urban planning maps, modernist painting, woven tapestry: all of them impose order through the simple act of dividing space into fields. Bloc de Nuit begins with that same instinct: colour as structure, birds as the living element inside a composed world. Each block is its own room. The bird within it owns that room completely.
