The Work

Vermilion and maroon daisies crowd the left side of this canvas at hyper-saturated intensity, thinning into scattered petals, drips, and paint flecks against deep navy on the right. The transition from dense bloom to open darkness gives the piece a sense of colour spreading outward from a single source, an ignition point rather than an even field.

The Inspiration

This piece asked what the exact moment of catching fire might look like rendered in flowers, dense colour at one edge dissolving into scattered embers of paint across the rest of the canvas. The compositional imbalance, heavy on one side, nearly empty on the other, was essential to that sense of spreading motion.

What It Carries

The asymmetry here creates real tension, the eye pulled from dense colour toward open space and back again. That imbalance is what gives the piece its energy rather than a more evenly distributed composition.

Living With It

The strong asymmetry suits a wall where the piece can breathe, allowing the empty side room to read. Works well beside a doorway or in a corner composition.
