The Work

This is the coolest piece in the collection and the most interior one. Deep teal dominates, pressing in from every edge and leaving only fragments of warmer tone: muted pink at the lower centre, a flash of burnt orange at the lower left, pale violet shapes rising through the midground. The paint is applied in circular and diagonal movements that suggest depth rather than surface, as if you're looking through water rather than at it. Pink forms appear and partially disappear into the teal, never fully resolved, always somewhere between coming and going. The vertical format amplifies the sensation of descent.

The Inspiration

Underwater, a storm is barely a sound. The chaos that defines the surface becomes an almost abstract vibration from below: you know something is happening, but it has no edges, no direction. This piece was built from that inversion. The cool depth as refuge. The warm tones as something distant, still present but no longer immediate.

What It Carries

This is the piece in the collection that asks the least and gives the most. It doesn't require engagement. You can sit across from it and let it do what deep, cool colour has always done: slow the room down. The warmth buried inside it is deliberate, a reminder that there's something on the other side of the depth, but it never insists on being found.

Living With It

Made for rooms where calm is the brief: bedrooms, meditation spaces, private studies, spa environments. The teal sits with white, charcoal, natural stone, and dark timber without effort. In large format it creates the effect of looking through a wall rather than at one. Works with minimal furniture and strong natural light; also works in darker, more intimate rooms where the cool tones deepen further.
