About This Design
Epidendrum is the calm, graphic design in Monkey Orchard, and the only one built on a single deep colour. Ivory tree trunks rise in clean vertical lines across a field of rich night blue, with black monkeys climbing between them, pale faces turned out. Fine navy leaves and soft floating circles fill the spaces, giving the blue a gentle rhythm rather than a busy one. The impasto effect keeps the ivory trunks and dark bodies tactile, worked rather than flat. Up close, the detail rewards a look; from a distance, the vertical trees give the pattern real order and calm. Named for the orchid whose name means upon a tree, Epidendrum matches its climbers exactly, and it brings a quiet, confident depth to a room that lighter designs cannot.

The Inspiration
Epidendrum takes its name from the orchid whose name means upon a tree, a climber that lives on trunks and branches rather than in the soil. The design was built around that idea, monkeys and orchids both at home in the trees. The deep blue came from wanting one design in the collection that felt like night, calm and grounding against the warmer pieces. The ivory trunks gave it structure. It is the quiet, composed member of the orchard, the one with stillness in it.

What It Carries
