THE WORK

A single Ankole-Watusi bull with a rushing herd in the distance moves through open grassland as the sun sinks low behind an acacia tree, its light breaking into long, warm streaks across a sky shifting from deep orange to soft blue-grey. The animal walks in near-silhouette, horns catching the last of the light, while a distant herd blurs into the dust and haze beyond. Nothing in the frame moves with urgency. The light itself seems to slow the moment down, wide bands of colour drawn out by long exposure until the whole scene reads as calm rather than motion.

THE INSPIRATION

Halcyon takes its name from the ancient idea of a period so calm the sea itself would settle, a moment untouched by turbulence. This piece works from that same stillness, choosing golden hour and a single walking animal over any of the drama found elsewhere in the collection. It's a deliberate contrast, proof that motion, in this body of work, doesn't always mean urgency. Sometimes it simply means a day ending exactly as it should.

WHAT IT CARRIES
