About This Design

Jade Understory gathers dozens of individual leaf forms into a single dense field, no two the same shade of green. Some lean toward deep teal, others soften into pale mint, and a scattering carry fine white dots and veining across their surface. The layering feels close and unplanned, the way leaves crowd together low in a forest, one shape half hidden behind the next. Rendered with visible fabric grain and shadow beneath each leaf, the pattern holds real dimension rather than sitting flat against the surface. At upholstery scale it reads as a cool, textured field, calm from across a room and richly detailed the closer you look. No single leaf repeats its neighbour exactly, so the eye keeps finding something new within what first looks like one continuous shade of green.

The Inspiration

Every forest floor holds more variation than it first appears to. Jade Understory began as a study of that layered, low light world, the point where sunlight barely reaches and colour turns quiet rather than loud. Instead of choosing one green, the design keeps dozens, letting each leaf hold its own temperature within the same cool family. It is less about a single plant than about the crowd of them, the way growth stacks on growth until the ground disappears beneath it.
