About This Design

Jardin Vif is saturated and alive. Against a deep teal ground, oversized disc-shaped botanical forms rendered in olive green, burgundy, blush, coral, and warm gold fill the surface with the quality of exotic fungi or water lily pads seen from directly above. White birds move between them, perched or mid-step, their pale forms a calm counterpoint to the intensity of the botanical field beneath. The discs are not flat. Each one carries interior detail and concentric patterning that rewards close inspection. At upholstery scale the composition gives a chair or sofa the quality of a garden viewed from inside a greenhouse: lush and slightly unreal. The deep teal ground is what holds it all together, preventing the richness of the botanicals from becoming overwhelming and giving the white birds a clear, luminous presence.

The Inspiration

The hothouse gardens of Victorian botanical collectors: spaces where impossible plants from impossible climates were kept alive under glass, arranged not by ecology but by visual drama. Jardin Vif carries that same spirit of arranged abundance. Natural forms placed in deliberate, beautiful tension with each other.
