About This Design

Tall, narrow flame-lotus forms stack vertically in olive, teal, and burnt orange against a muted olive ground, each shape echoing the slender proportions of a lancet window rising toward a pointed arch. Rendered in impasto strokes, the layered petals within each form catch light unevenly, brighter at the centre and shadowed at the edges, the way real coloured glass darkens toward its leading. This is the most restrained palette in Cathedral Glass, closer to moss and rust than jewel brightness, giving the design a grounded, autumnal quality distinct from the rest of the collection. Its narrow, repeating rhythm suits vertical applications where height matters more than width.

The Inspiration

A lancet window is architecture reduced to its simplest gesture: height, narrowness, a single pointed arch reaching upward. This design borrows that exact proportion, its stacked flame-lotus forms rising in the same slender rhythm as lancet glass set into stone. The muted olive ground behind it stands in for the shadowed stone surround, letting the warmer forms read like light passing through narrow glass into a dim interior.
