THE WORK

Two figures stand side by side, close but not touching, each one occupying their own column of the composition with complete self-possession. The male figure on the left wears a dark suit jacket with a sharp white collar, his face an angular cream and sand geometry beneath a flat dark brim. To the right, she is all elongated neck and wide-brimmed pale hat, her face a perfect inverted triangle with burnt orange eye shadows and a small red mouth that does the work of an entire expression. Both faces carry the same Modigliani-derived geometry: simplified, structural, reduced to only what is necessary. The background is deep, layered teal with warm brown passages breaking through, loose and atmospheric, the suggestion of a city evening behind two people who have already arrived wherever they were going. The impasto surface throughout is thick and directional, every plane placed with full confidence.

THE INSPIRATION

Paris fashion is not about clothing. It is about the precise performance of knowing who you are in a room full of people doing the same thing.
