About This Design

Pivoine Profonde is the most ornate design in the Aviaire Chanson collection. Cream and ivory doves of exceptional feather detail, their plumage textured with the depth of carved relief work, move through a deeply saturated botanical field of oversized peonies in blush, rose, magenta, and violet, set against a ground of deep jewelled teal. Gilded circular medallion forms thread through the composition, giving the whole design an opulence that references Baroque textile traditions without being bound by them. The botanical forms are not illustrative in any restrained sense. They are lush to the point of excess, every petal layered, every leaf detailed. At upholstery scale this fabric delivers the kind of richness that was once only possible in hand-embroidered silks. On lux velvet, the depth of the teal ground develops fully and the ivory dove forms seem to lift from the surface as though three-dimensional.

The Inspiration

The great tapestries and woven silks of Baroque Europe: French Gobelins, Flemish millefleur weaves, the bird and flower compositions that covered the walls of palace interiors across the continent. Pivoine Profonde takes that tradition of concentrated, deliberate luxury and gives it a contemporary surface.

Detailed: A fine-scale repeat where the impasto texture becomes the surface itself. Ideal for scatter cushions, smaller upholstery panels, and layered soft furnishings.
