Threshold Architecture is the most structured piece in the collection. Broad rectangular blocks of colour in cobalt, orange, red, and ochre are arranged with an almost architectural logic: defined zones that suggest rooms, doorways, and passages without depicting any of them literally. The impasto within each block is directional and consistent, giving each zone its own visual texture while maintaining the coherence of the larger structure. Dark passages between the blocks create depth. Nothing overlaps in the conventional sense, yet the composition reads as deeply layered.
The work came from thinking about architectural drawings and what they reveal about the way spaces are conceived before they are inhabited. A plan shows rooms as pure geometry before furniture, light, or life enters them. Threshold Architecture applies that logic to colour and emotion: what does a feeling look like before you step into it? What is the shape of a space you are approaching but have not yet occupied?
This is the most conceptually grounded piece in the collection. The architectural structure gives it an unusual stability for an emotionally charged palette: the orange and red feel contained rather than explosive because of the geometry that organizes them. The result is a painting that manages to be both intellectually coherent and emotionally warm.
The cobalt, orange, and red palette works across a wide range of interior contexts, but the structured composition makes it particularly strong in rooms with geometric architecture: tall ceilings, symmetrical layouts, and clean-lined furniture. Works in living rooms, dining rooms, and professional spaces where the visual language of structure and order is already present. The wide horizontal format is essential.
For the architect, the designer, the thinker who finds beauty in form before it is inhabited.
