About This Design

Cream forms the base here, but it's the oxblood and steel blue diamond fountains rising through it that hold the eye. Each shape narrows to a point and opens again, stacked in a tight diamond lattice that repeats with the precision of a ballroom floor. The impasto effect gives every ridge a raised edge, so the pattern reads as carved rather than printed, especially where the oxblood deepens into shadow at each point.

Up close, the layered lines inside each diamond create a quiet rhythm, almost a pulse. From across a room, the whole thing settles into a formal grid, structured and composed. That contrast between close-up movement and distance-held order is what separates The Ambassador from the softer, more organic pieces in this collection. It carries weight without becoming heavy.

The Inspiration

This one started with the idea of a first-class smoking car, the kind of enclosed space built for quiet conversation and good posture. Diamond lattice work turns up in ironwork, in tile floors, in the geometry of formal gates. The Ambassador borrows that same sense of controlled repetition, then pushes the colour further than any of those sources ever dared.

What It Carries

There's a formality to this one that doesn't ask for softening. It suits a room that wants to feel considered rather than casual, upholstery on a wing chair, a runner down a long table, drapery that holds its shape. The oxblood keeps it grounded while the steel blue cools it just enough to stop it feeling heavy. It's a design for people who like a room to have a point of view.
