About This Design

Cobalt and rose pinwheel medallions spin across a cream ground here, each one built from interlocking petal shapes that rotate around a shared centre. The Inspiration

This one grew from thinking about the geometric medallions and pinwheel motifs that turned up everywhere in 1920s design, on tile floors, in ironwork, on the covers of sheet music. The name nods to the era's music itself, syncopated, layered, always slightly ahead of the beat. The Jazz Medallion takes that same interlocking rhythm and lets cobalt, rose and gold carry it.
