The Work

A man's face emerges from a dense field of cobalt and steel-blue leaves, painted with thick, layered impasto strokes that give the foliage real physical weight. The leaves don't frame him; they partly consume him, pressing in from every direction while his face holds its ground. His expression is fixed and level, a gaze that registers everything without reacting to any of it. Against the saturated cool of the surrounding leaves, a wash of amber and warm ochre grazes his skin, creating a quiet thermal contrast. The technique reads as hyperrealistic in the face and aggressively textured in the surrounding mass.

The Inspiration
