About This Design
A tall flame-leaf motif rises in teal, amber, and deep purple, its edges flaring outward like wings caught mid-lift. Behind it, in the same pale stone tone as the ground, a ghosted fleur-de-lis tracery repeats quietly, visible only when the light catches it at an angle. Rendered in impasto strokes, the foreground bloom sits raised and dimensional against that recessed pattern, creating two layers of depth in a single design. This is the effect of stepping away from a cathedral's main nave into a smaller transept chapel, one clear form in the foreground, an older pattern holding the wall behind it. Within Cathedral Glass, this design carries the most architectural secrecy, a bloom that rewards a second look.
The Inspiration
Every cathedral holds spaces the main aisle does not reveal, side chapels, quiet transepts, smaller rooms built with the same devotion but less display. This design honours that quieter architecture. Its ghosted tracery, barely visible against the stone-toned ground, mirrors the way older patterns persist beneath newer ones in buildings that have stood for centuries. The flame-leaf bloom in front carries Art Nouveau's organic energy, alive and rising, while the hidden layer behind it holds history in reserve.
What It Carries
There is a particular pleasure in noticing what others miss, the second pattern behind the first, the detail that only shows itself with attention. This design carries that same quiet reward. It sits well in a room meant for closer looking, a reading chair, a hallway passed daily until one day the hidden tracery is finally seen. It does not announce itself twice. It waits.
Design Size Options
This design is available in three layout scales:
Grand: A larger-scale composition that reads with authority across statement furniture and feature walls.
Classic: A balanced, repeated layout with natural structure and rhythm. Works across most applications.
Detailed: A fine-scale repeat where the impasto texture becomes the surface itself. Ideal for scatter cushions, smaller upholstery panels, and layered soft furnishings.
Style tip: Mark out a small section on your planned project surface to see how the Detailed scale reads in your space. That preview will show you exactly how the texture and rhythm land before you commit to a size.
