The Work

A dominant golden amber circle burns at the centre-left of the frame, its surface thick with layered paint strokes that press outward from the core. Surrounding it, smaller forms in red-orange and deep amber orbit like fragments of the same system, caught in motion. The background is an expressive wash of deep teal, navy, and near-black, slashed through with white gestural marks that move diagonally across the upper register. Paint drips trace vertical lines through the composition, anchoring the energy downward. The tension between the luminous centre and the dark surround is immediate and unresolved.

The Inspiration

Every life has a moment where the field shifts. Not gradually. All at once. This work was built from that sensation, the way a turning point does not announce itself with clarity but arrives in a burst of colour against darkness. The golden circle is not a sun or a symbol. It is the thing you suddenly see differently. The dark field is not a threat; it is context. It was always there. You just hadn't turned toward the light yet.

What It Carries

The energy in this piece does not settle. The eye is drawn repeatedly to the burning centre and then outward to the fractured fragments that surround it, and the cycle repeats.
