The Work

Deep crimson poppies fill the foreground, their layered petals rendered in thick directional strokes of scarlet, burgundy, and near black. Above them, the sky splits dramatically, a blazing pale light pouring in from the upper left while a deep teal darkness pushes back from the right. Between the two, loose petals break free from their stems and scatter across the canvas as if the wind arrived mid-stroke and the paint had no choice but to follow.
