Art Deco first emerged in the early 1920s and found its moment of global glory in 1925, when the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts was held in Paris. It was this pivotal event that catapulted the style across continents, influencing everything from fashion and furniture to architecture and textiles.
Art Deco was a response to the austerity of the previous decades—a rebellion wrapped in elegance. It combined clean lines, stylised geometric forms, symmetry, and luxury with touches of exotic inspiration, often drawn from ancient cultures, machinery, and the modern city. It was the language of bold sophistication.
