The Work

Soft, overlapping circles drift across the composition in blush, peach, and pale orange, their edges bleeding into one another with an openness that feels less like collision and more like release. Behind them, a deep navy mass anchors the upper right, its dark weight sitting in contrast to the warmth that fills the rest of the frame. Thin gestural lines thread through the mid-ground in coral and rust, loose and unresolved. The background reads in layers of brushed teal and pale grey-blue, atmospheric and receding. Nothing here is pinned down. The whole composition moves as if in the middle of letting something go.

The Inspiration

This piece draws from the particular quality of emotional release — not the dramatic kind, but the quiet one. The kind where you finally stop reaching for something that was already leaving. The overlapping forms were never meant to be distinct. They are meant to show what happens in the in-between, when one thing has not yet separated from another, when the moment of release is still soft and incomplete and honest.

There is a stillness at the centre of this work that takes time to find. The blush tones suggest warmth without urgency. The navy does not threaten; it holds.
