The Work

A broad field of cerulean and cobalt fills the frame, its surface active with loose white marks, gold flecks, and scattered paint that give the blue an atmospheric texture rather than a flat tone. Navy and orange circles move across the composition in varying scales, some outlined in black, some dissolving at the edges into the field around them. Thin black and orange gestural lines arc and drip through the mid-ground. A pale, near-white circle holds the upper right, almost disappearing into the blue. The overall composition reads as dynamic and unresolved, a system in motion that is following its own internal logic.

The Inspiration

A shift does not always announce itself. Sometimes it is only visible in retrospect, the moment you turn around and realise the ground has changed. This piece was built from that particular quality of change, not the violent kind, but the structural kind. The blue is not calm. It is vast. The circles moving across it are the markers, the things that help you recognise that something has moved even when the movement itself was invisible.

What It Carries

This is the coolest-toned piece in the collection and the one that carries the most open emotional space. Where other works in the series press forward with heat and urgency, this one opens outward. What lingers is the sense of space after change, the feeling that once something has shifted, the field around it becomes larger. More is possible. The blue does not contain the circles. It gives them room.

Living With It

Blue and gold at this depth work in almost any interior context. Against warm whites and natural timbers, the blue reads as fresh and clear. Against concrete or dark wall treatments, it reads as vast and atmospheric. This is one of the most versatile pieces in the collection in terms of placement.
