About This Design
Flor Abierta arranges large, open flower-cluster forms across a white ground, each one built from broad, curved impasto-style petal strokes that fan outward from a warm central core. Warm amber, burnt orange, deep teal, dusty teal, olive, rose, and cream fill the petals in a palette that is earthy and warm rather than saturated and intense. The clusters overlap at the edges, and the white ground remains visible between the forms, which keeps the design breathing at fabric scale. The petal strokes within each cluster vary in width and curvature, which gives every bloom a slightly different character even within the same repeat. This variation is what separates Flor Abierta from more mechanical floral patterns. At fabric scale, the large, open clusters work beautifully on statement upholstery where the full flower form can be read across the surface of a sofa or a generously sized armchair. On curtains the overlapping clusters create a surface that shifts from bloom to bloom across the full width of the fabric.
The Inspiration
The Fiesta de Colores collection draws from the warmth and vibrance of traditional Mexican celebration. Flor Abierta takes its name from the open flower, the form at the centre of Mexican decorative art from Talavera pottery to embroidered textiles, where the flower is always shown fully open, generous, and complete. The palette here is warmer and more earthen than the brighter designs in the sub-collection, drawing from the ochre, terracotta, and sage tones of the Mexican landscape rather than the vivid pigments of the festival.
What It Carries
Flor Abierta is the most quietly sophisticated design in Flores de Fiesta. The earthen palette and the open, generous flower clusters give it a warmth that feels settled rather than celebratory. It suits rooms that want the collection's floral vocabulary without the full intensity of its most saturated designs. In a room with natural materials, warm neutrals, and considered lighting, Flor Abierta on upholstery or curtains adds exactly the right amount of colour and life without asking the room to reorganise itself around a single strong statement.
Design Size Options
This design is available in three layout scales:
Grand: A larger-scale composition that reads with authority across statement furniture and feature walls.
Classic: A balanced, repeated layout with natural structure and rhythm. Works across most applications.
Detailed: A fine-scale repeat where the impasto texture becomes the surface itself. Ideal for scatter cushions, smaller upholstery panels, and layered soft furnishings.
Style tip: Mark out a small section on your planned project surface to see how the Detailed scale reads in your space. That preview will show you exactly how the texture and rhythm land before you commit to a size.

Preview Disclaimer
Please note: Slight tonal variations may appear between previews and your final printed fabric. This is a result of base fabric texture, lighting conditions in styled photography, and natural variation between fabric substrates. Preview images are styled to show the design's potential across different applications.
